Machine move: EMBA 170
Working closely with a mechanical service engineering company, we successfully relocated a control panel and a high-standing, soundproof vacuum compartment to enable the installation of a new machine.
The task began with disconnecting all cables, including the mains, to safely move the main control panel out of the way. This provided the necessary space to shift the vacuum compartment 700mm closer to the main machine. While APENG Electrical managed the electrical aspects, credit for the planning and calculations of the machine move goes to Captec Solutions.
The project was completed over three days, covering the disconnection of all electrical and mechanical supplies, repositioning the control panel and vacuum compartment, and finally, reconnecting and recommissioning all services.
Relocating the High-Standing Compartment
In the photo, you can see the high-standing vacuum compartment (with the white legs) that we moved 700mm closer to the main machine (the blue machine). This new positioning still allows full access to the mechanical sections that require routine maintenance.
Disconnecting the Cables
The cabling removal process included disconnecting the mains power, power supply to the vacuum motors, supply to the main DC drive motor, signal exchange between PLCs, Tacho feedback, and network Cat 5 cables. Once all cables were disconnected, we unbolted the control panel from the floor and carefully relocated it to its new position.

Control panel moved into position, mains incomer connected and containment installed. The machine was ready to be tested.
Testing and recommisioning
End to end testing of all cables that had been removed before powering up and testing the machine.
